Days 5 & 6

With the course closed for most of Sunday, we had the morning and afternoon off to watch the finals of the Henley Womens Regatta.

The heat is hitting England pretty hard now, with temperatures in the low 90’s. Apparently, the Brits don’t believe in being cool or air conditioning (“air con” as it’s colloquially called) and ice would be more of a thing. Monday’s practices were early in the morning and later at night as a result. Since it stays lighter out for longer here, rowing at 8 PM in the evening has real perks, aside from being the only ones on the course…

The boat tents are beginning to fill up as American and British crews alike are starting to file in. Fellow American schools like BU, Yale, Williams, Tufts, Virgnia, and Deerfield are common sightings.
